FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: during vitreoretinal surgery, four ports are installed through the flat portion of the ciliary body using seamless technology. The first port is used for irrigation, two ports are used for active tools insertion into the vitreous body cavity, the fourth port is for endo-illuminator introduction. At that, first, the endo-illuminating part and optical fiber insulation are removed, leaving 2 mm of optical fiber without insulation, followed by modified endo-illuminator insertion through the fourth port and optical fiber installation depending on the desired lighting power.
EFFECT: use of invention increases the degree of illumination during vitreoretinal operations due to light beam concentration on the particular area of retina, the lack of shade at the vitreous cavity periphery, ensures operation without an additional lighting fixture, as well as the possibility of bimanual operation technique.
