FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to ophthalmology. An intraocular irrigation line and an ultrasonic vitreotome needle with a working hole on the side wall at the distal end of the needle are introduced into the vitreous cavity through transconjunctival scleral punctures of the eyeball in the projection of the flat part of the ciliary body. The working end of the needle is therein placed under illumination to visually monitor the entry of the vitreous body into the working hole communicating with the aspiration line of the ophthalmic surgical system. For fragmentation and removal of the vitreous body, ultrasonic vibrations are formed on the working end of the needle in the area of the working hole thereof with a vector of propagation thereof along the needle parallel to the retina, and the vitreous body of this body is removed through the aspiration line of the ophthalmic surgical system.

EFFECT: method allows smoothly removing the vitreous body in full without fluctuations in the aspiration flow, reducing the probability of iatrogenic damage.
