FIELD: engines and pumps.
SUBSTANCE: missile launcher with a laser-driven rocket engine (LRE) has a platform on which there is a swivel mirror with a control unit installed. The platform is suspended from balloons and attached to the ground surface with braces. Laser irradiation is transferred from the laser irradiation sources on the ground to the swivel mirror with the control unit through optical waveguide beams and the swivel mirror directs the laser irradiation to the LRE radiation zone.
EFFECT: increased payload fraction in relation to the gross launching mass and improved security.
