FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: primary light pulse, directed into the light guide channel to trigger the pulse generating process, is formed by the electron-optical conversion of the external electrical trigger pulse. Subsequent light pulses, directed into the light guide channel, are formed by the electron-optical conversion of the electrical pulses resulted from the opto-electric conversion of the preceding light pulses passing through the light guide channel. The generated light pulses have a duration less than the transit time through the light transmission channel.
EFFECT: expanding the capability - it is provided by the use of the light propagation velocity constancy effect in the specific light guide medium, that provides the possibility of forming pulses with stable frequency by reducing the internal instability factors.
