FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method and an apparatus for recovery of iron oxide-containing raw materials, wherein the reduction reactor (1) (containing the raw materials including iron oxides) is fed with reducing gas. Reducing gas is obtained so that process gas with reduction potential is introduced into the heating device (3) for heating of process gas and is removed from it as reducing gas. In the heating device (3) there is a transfer of thermal energy to process gas; and the thermal energy is generated in the heating device during combustion of combustible gas containing organic material which includes coke oven gas produced by coke plant, by the addition of commercially pure oxygen. The resulting (during the combustion) flame has adiabatic combustion flame temperature of up to 1000°C, where during the combustion of fuel gas - at least part of the organic substance (contained in combustion gas) decomposes.

EFFECT: invention allows to increase reduction potential of process gas.
