SUBSTANCE: method comprises purified ruthenium salt reaction with hydrogen halide to form an intermediate ruthenium product and ruthenium intermediate product reaction with L-type ligand, which is a cyclic olefin to form a ruthenium-carbene complex precursor. At that, the purified ruthenium salt is (NH4)2RuCl5, (NH4)2RuCl5⋅H2O, polyhydrated (NH4)2RuCl5 or (NH4)4[Ru2OCl10], and the intermediate ruthenium product comprises one or more ammonium cations and one or more halide ligands.
EFFECT: invention allows effective and less costly production of the ruthenium-carbene complex precursor, without the need for metal ruthenium or ruthenium trichloride mediation.
