SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a catalyst with a carbene ligand characterized by the general structure of the formula (I). In the formula (I), M is a transition metal of group 8; X1 and X2 are identical or different and are two ligands, preferably anionic ligands; R1-R6 are identical or different and are selected from hydrogen, C1-C4alkyl, cyclohexyl, C1-C4alkoxy, methylphenyl, dimethylphenyl, methoxyphenyl, fluorophenyl, naphthyl, with the exception that R2 is not phenyl; where, as an alternative R6 is not optionally connected by a bridge to L2; L1 and L2 are identical or different ligands, preferably neutral electron donors. A version of the catalyst, a method of the production of catalysts and their application are also provided.
EFFECT: proposed catalysts can be used in various methods of the metathesis of olefins.
