SUBSTANCE: method and device for determining the railway train self-disengage is proposed, when one or more railway carriages / coaches (401) are accidentally disengaged from the rest of the train. The method comprises performing the distributed acoustic readout on the optical fiber (104a, 104b) deployed along the railway length, to provide a plurality of longitudinal acoustic readout parts along the railway (201). The acoustic feedback is analyzed to determine a signature indicating the railway train self-disengage. For this purpose, deiermining the acoustic events (302, 303) associated with different parts of the train and determining when the separation between the two events exceeds a threshold value are performed.
EFFECT: increased reliability of determining self-disengage.
