FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: method for automatical determining the iceberg settlement for protection of marine structures (including oil and gas drilling platforms) from ice formations (especially icebergs). The method includes radiation of the probe signal, reception of the echo signal with a static fan of the directivity characteristics in the vertical plane, each characteristic of which has the same solution widthα, filtration in vertical, measurement of the isotropic interference level, determination of the threshold, measurement of the time exceeding the selected threshold by the echo signal in each spatial channel in vertical, definition of the echo signal duration in each channel, output to the indicator, the static fan of the directivity characteristics is formed in the horizontal plane, the time is determined, in which the detection of the echo signals occurred at one and the same time according to the rule T=Tdet+vTdur, where Tdet - the time of the echo signal detection in the channel, Tdur - the duration of the emitted signal, v - the ratio determined by measuring the acoustic parameters of an iceberg in the measurement area, the number of the horizontal channels Mhor is determined, in which the detection occurred, the number of the vertical channels Mver is determined, in which the detection occurred, the distance to the iceberg is determined on the minimum distance estimation according to the formula Ddet=(Tdet.-Tem)⋅S, where Tem - the emission time of the probing signal, S - the sound speed in water, the horizontal size of the underwater iceberg part Khor is determined according to the formula Khor= Mhor⋅Ddet⋅sin(α), the vertical dimension (underwater part) of an iceberg Kver is determined according to the formula Kver= Mver⋅Ddet⋅sin(α) and, if Khor>Kver, then a decision is taken on the presence of an iceberg in the ice field. Herewith Khor determines the horizontal size of the ice field, if Khor<Kver, then a decision is taken on the presence of a single iceberg, and Khor determines the horizontal size of the underwater part of the single iceberg.
EFFECT: high measurement accuracy.
