FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: powder material consisting of layers of titanium powder and a mixture of chromium and titanium carbide powders in a ratio of 78 wt % Cr3C2 and 22 wt % Ti is spread over the surface of the metal substrate, an intermediate layer of a mixture of chromium carbide and titanium carbide powders is placed between a layer of titanium powder and a layer of powder mixture in a ratio of 60 wt % Cr3C2 and 40 wt % Ti, the thickness of the latter is 0.8-1.2 times the thickness of the titanium powder layer. After that, an explosive charge is triggered. The explosive is located above the powder material separated from it by a metal plate. A normal incidence detonation wave compacts the powder material to a practically non-porous state and creates the conditions for connecting the components together and with the steel substrate.
EFFECT: increased strength of the coating bond with the metal substrate.
