FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the production of multifunctional protective coatings on a paint and varnish basis that have water repellant, antifriction, antiwear, anti-fouling properties, and can be used in shipbuilding and ship repair, in the construction of metal structures and structures in various engineering fields. The method consists of applying a paint and varnish material (PVM) and nanostructured polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) to the substrate obtained by thermal destruction of PTFE-4, followed by condensation from the gas phase. The nanostructured PTFE powder is injected directly into the paint material in the form of a dispersion in xylene in an amount of 1-40 wt % of dry paint, or applied by rubbing onto the surface of the paint after it has cured.
EFFECT: increasing the service life of paint and varnish coatings and expand the range of their protective functions.
