Video decoding method comprising the steps of: parsing the most probable mode flag indicating the use of one possible local prediction mode for determination of local prediction mode for the current block; parsing the mode index that indicates one of the possible modes of local prediction, when the flag of the most probable mode indicates that one of the possible modes of local prediction is used to determine the mode of local prediction of the current block; defining versions local prediction modes; determining the local prediction mode of the current block by use of the mode index; performing local prediction of the current block by usage of predetermined local prediction mode.

EFFECT: invention improves the efficiency of video decoding.
