FIELD: geology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of geological engineering in particular to the study of physical properties of soils and can be used to determine the characteristics of soil porosity in compression tests of the samples in conditions of impossibility of lateral expansion. A method for determining characteristics of the soil porosity in compression tests includes the weighing of the sample, measuring the height and area of its cross section, drying the sample until the determining of the constant weight, dried sample weight and volume of mineral particles. Moreover, soil porosity is determined at each of pressure stages of compression testing according to the formula: where V d is amount of mineral particles in the sample; F is the cross-sectional area of the sample; h0 QUOTE is the height of the sample before compression tests (initial height); is the change of the height of the sample at the i-st stage, and the soil porosity factor is determined at each of the compression test pressure stages according to the formula .
EFFECT: technical result is to increase the rate of determining of the characteristics of soil porosity at all pressure levels and reduce labor intensity.
