FIELD: construction.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to construction, in particular to laboratory methods for determining deformation characteristics of soils. Method of determining deformation characteristics of soils of natural or disturbed composition in conditions of uniaxial compression without the possibility of its lateral expansion in a compression device includes testing of soil sample in stress relaxation mode and by final values of stresses and corresponding deformations of sample, at completion of each of the stages, a compression curve is plotted, wherein after reaching preset value of soil specimen deformation at each step, additional sedimentation of soil specimen is limited by partial load dropping, approaching conditional stabilization of stresses or deformations of specimen. First, constant time pressure is applied to the soil specimen, and after achieving conditional stabilization of deformations, the soil specimen is tested in the stress relaxation mode.
EFFECT: significant increase in the reliability and accuracy of determining the deformation characteristics of soils by taking into account the stressed state of the specimen in the massif.
