SUBSTANCE: group of inventions refers to medical equipment, namely to imaging systems in terms of funds for patient support. The patient supporting system for the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) device includes a patient supporting table with a recess portion, a radio frequency (RF) head coil that has the shape of the bottom surface, which complements and connects with the recess portion of the table, and an filling insert with a flat upper and lower surface of a contoured shape that complements and connects with the recess part of the patient supporting table. At that the filling insert is mounted on the supporting part of the table at a time when the RF head coil assembly is not installed on the supporting part of the table. The recess part of the table comprises a central anchoring groove, which is located approximately in the center of the recess portion, and a front fixing recess, which is arranged along the front edge of the recess portion. The filling insert has a front fixing element that connects with the front fixing recess and a central anchoring element that connects with the central anchoring groove for alignment and fixation of the filling insert in place on the table. The insert for the table further comprises a flat upper surface which is flush with the upper surface of the patient supporting table when the insert table is joint to the recess portion of the table, and a lower surface with a contour such that the shape of the bottom surface complements the shape of the recess portion of the table; as a result, the lower surface of the insert fits into and connects with the recess part of the table. Method for maintaining a flat surface on the table when no inserted radiofrequency head coil is present, includes the stages when a filling insert is provided in the recess portion of the table, and when the patient is scanned using an RF head coil the filling insert is removed the RF head coil is installed into the recess portion of the table. When scanning is complete, the RF head coil is removed from the recess portion of the table and the filling insertion is again fitted into the recessed part of the table.

EFFECT: group of inventions allows optimization of the geometry of the patient's anatomy and the RF coil for additional positioning requirements.
