SUBSTANCE: proposed control device for an internal combustion engine configured to use an alcohol-containing fuel, in this case, the control device includes an electronic control unit configured to: i) estimate the content of water mixed with the engine oil on the basis of the chronological data on the amount of fuel injected during operation of the engine; and ii) preventing the water freezing due to the fact that the electronic control unit increases the amount of fuel mixed with the engine oil when the estimated water content is equal or greater than the set value, compared with the case when the estimated water content is less than the set value.
EFFECT: prevention of irregularities in the lubrication system.
