FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to casting, in particular to manufacturing the truck bolster of the railway carriage. The method comprises placing casting models in the upper and lower flasks, filling the flasks with moulding material, the material curing, removing the models from the obtained upper and lower halves of the mould. The dividing line of the semi-moulds is centered between the mould parts that form the window openings for the brake, and the shoe pockets are formed in the lower half of the mould. Rods are mounted, and molten metal is poured into the mould. The material excess less than 15% is removed from the casting. In the resulting casting, the width error limit between a pair of shoe pockets is ±0.063 inches, the roughness is less than the RMS of 750 micro-inches.
EFFECT: increased accuracy and cleanliness of castings surface is provided.
