FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention is a method for prediction of development of a severe damage to the central nervous system in case of tick-borne encephalitis using a CSF analysis, characterised in that serotonin level is determined in the cerebrospinal fluid of the patient, at a value of more than 20 ng/ml a moderate central nervous system damage with development of a nonparalytic meningeal form is predicted; less than 20 ng/ml - a severe central nervous system damage with formation of paralytic focal forms is predicted.
EFFECT: invention provides high accuracy and specificity of the study, reducing the time for diagnosis.
