SUBSTANCE: method for identification of a subject with depression or at risk of depression development is described, which would have a positive effect on or respond to a treatment regimen, comprising a folate-containing compound, wherein the said subject is identified as specified above, provided that two loci of presence of an allele with thymine T at position 677 (in MTHFR gene) and an allele with guanine G at position SNP2756 (in MTR gene) are detected in a genotype. Application of a folate-containing composition in combination with an antidepressant for depression treatment for a person with the above single nucleotide polymorphisms is proposed.
EFFECT: group of inventions allows to effectively resolve folate-containing compound prescription for patients with depression or risk of its development by selecting the optimum combination of folate path gene polymorphisms for genotyping, resulting in the maximum benefit from the received folate-containing compound for patients with this disease.
