FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: sodium carbonate in aqueous solution to form an aqueous composition containing a polycarboxylic acid and/or its salt in an amount of at least 200 parts/million by weight of the aqueous composition. Bring the aqueous composition in contact with a gas containing carbon dioxide. Sodium bicarbonate is separated from a primary aqueous composition to produce particles of sodium hydrogencarbonate and an aqueous mother liquor. The carbonate particles have an average spherical diameter D50, equal to 10 microns, and D90 - 60 microns, an average BET surface area - 4.0 m2/G. For the preparation of sodium carbonate particles carried calcining sodium bicarbonate particles at a temperature of 80°C. sodium carbonate particles have an average spherical diameter D50, equal to 10 microns, and D90 - 60 microns, an average BET surface area of at least 10-15 m2/G.
EFFECT: increase in the specific surface of the particles of sodium carbonate and bicarbonate and increased stability of the sodium carbonate particles during storage.
