FIELD: measuring equipment.

SUBSTANCE: claimed invention consists of an optical system with optical fibers that have one or more optical fiber cores with one or more fiber Bragg gratings passing along the entire length, where the position and/or the form of the mentioned object should be determined. Herewith the reflectometer measures the deformation in a plurality of the sample points along the optical fiber cores, and the processor determines the position and/or the form based on the mentioned measured deformations from a plurality of the optical fiber cores. The fiber Bragg grating passes along the entire length of the mentioned optical fiber cores, wherein the fiber core has a spatially modulated reflection along the entire length of the mentioned optical fiber core, so that the appropriate reflection spectrum could be detected when scanning along the wavelength.

EFFECT: improving the accuracy when measuring the form or the position of the associated object.
