FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: method for automated patient monitoring is implemented using the automated system for patient monitoring and delirium detection. At that, patient image data are obtained in time using the monitoring unit. Patient motion events are detected by the image data obtained using the image analysis unit. Large or small amounts of motion are determined in the detected motion event and the detected motion events are classified as typical and atypical for delirium using the evaluation unit. Delirium is estimated based on the duration of large or small amounts of motion and or duration, intensity, type, location and/or the emergence of delirium-typical motion events using the delirium determination unit. Delirium estimation indicates the likelihood and/or intensity of delirium for a patient.
EFFECT: improved accuracy of delirium definition.
