FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: surgical stapler for circular anastomosis contains a suturing head assembly, a handle drive assembly, a barrel assembly, a safety latch and a locking element. The suturing head assembly comprises an abutment member which is moved relative to the suture staples holder and a staple-promoting member for suture staples movement from the staple holder into the tissue and to the abutment member. The handle drive assembly includes the first drive that controls the abutment member movement, and the second drive that controls the staple-promoting member movement. The barrel assembly connects the suturing head assembly to the drive handle assembly. The safety latch prevents second drive operation when the gap between the abutment member and the suture staples holder is beyond the predetermined range.
EFFECT: locking member is configured to prevent abutment member axial gap adjustment after the desired height of the suturing staple is set within the predetermined range.
