FIELD: measurement technology.
SUBSTANCE: system for detecting the diamonds in kimberlite includes a linear electron accelerator for generating the dual energy braking radiation in the range of 1-10 MeV, a conveyor for feeding kimberlite in the irradiation zone, a detection unit for receiving radiation transmitted through the kimberlite fragment, a data processing unit for generating the scan data containing assessment of the atomic numbers and the mass thicknesses of the materials in the kimberlite fragment, an automatic analysis and display unit for final processing that includs, at least, clustering the scan data and evaluating the probability of the predetermined size diamond to be in the kimberlite fragment, as well as visualizing the fluoroscopy image with the image segment colorization on the basis of the processed scan data.
EFFECT: increasing the speed of kimberlite fragment detection containing large fraction diamonds in the relatively large pieces of rock at an early stage of production.
