FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: in order to identify insightful thinking abilities, it is suggested to use stereograms (STg), raster 3D-images (RI), plane images (PI), to record on the binocular eyetracker the difference in the X-coordinates of the gaze direction of the right and left eyes on the plane of stimulating images, to determine the diameter of the pupils of the eyes. If there is a correlation between the increase in the diameter of the pupil and the median value Δg_eye the occurrence of an insightful solution of the thinking process is determined, where Δg_eye=Xr_eye-Xl_eye.

EFFECT: method allows to carry out a quantitative study of the insight ability when perceiving the stereoscopic depth of stereograms, the depth of raster images and the depth of plane image patterns.
