FIELD: physics; optics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to physics, optics, stereoscopy, neuro and psychophysiology, experimental psychology and can be applied in cognitive science, neuroscience, education and training. Method includes: presentation of a planar single image (U); the construction on its basis of an identical-like image as stereograms (Uk); observation of the perception of stereoscopic depth on Uk; registration of the direction of the eye and the determination of the X-coordinates in perception U and Uk; calculating the coordinate difference (ΔX) directions of the direction of the right (R) and left eye (L) in the plane stereograms Uk and U; the construction of histograms of the coordinate difference ΔX for a period of time (Δt); determining the width of the histogram contour of the difference in perception U (δ(ΔXU)) and Uk (δ(ΔXsd)). If there is a condition δ(ΔXU)≈δ(ΔXsd), then the state of the phenomenon of objective reduction is identified. When stereoscopic depth is not observed, and the result – that is, they perceive only the depth of the image U, where ΔX=XL-XR, k=2, 3, 4 – whole numbers.
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to identify the ability to perceive the depth, volume of plane images as indirect data on the existence of the phenomenon of objective reduction.
