FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: device contains: a light source capable of generating a sequence of pulses in the form of single photons in a light beam; at least, two detectors, each of which is designed to detect single photons in a light beam, whereby the detection signals are provided; and control means. Each of the detectors for detecting single photons contains, at least, one quantum dot. And, at the same time, the detectors are located in the equivalent transverse spatial position of the probability of detecting single photons in a light beam. And, the control means are configured to control the generation of a sequence of pulses in the form of single photons and to register the detector signals to generate truly random numbers. The light source for generating a sequence of pulses in the form of single photons is based on the structure of quantum dots.
EFFECT: creating a generator of truly random numbers based on the quantum-optical process.
