FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to direct conversion radiation detector. Direct conversion radiation detector comprises a direct conversion layer containing direct conversion material for direct conversion of incident radiation from a radiation source to electron-hole pairs, a first electrode mounted on the direct conversion layer facing the radiation source, a second electrode mounted on the opposite side of the direct conversion layer relative to the first electrode, means for applying electric potential between the first electrode and the second electrode, wherein the direct conversion material comprises a garnet with composition Z3(AlxGay)5O12:Ce, in which Z is Lu, Gd, Y, Tb or combinations thereof, and wherein y is equal to or greater than x; and preferably Z contains Gd.
EFFECT: technical result is high spectral sensitivity of detector.
