FIELD: powder metallurgy; applicable in production from fulleren of diamond- containing material and polycrystalline diamonds. SUBSTANCE: the offered method includes mixing of fulleren with powder material and compaction of obtained mixture with subsequent synthesis of diamond. The offered method is distinguished by the fact that powder material is used in form of iron- containing composition, and diamond synthesis is carried out in the medium of hydrogen at atmospheric pressure and temperature of 930-980 C. In so doing, it is preferably to take powders of fulleren C60, ferrophosphorus and iron in ratio of 8:6:86. After heat treatment, the material is compacted at the pressure of 800-100 MPa and hardened from 930-980 C to minus 50 C with the cooling rate of 600-900 C/s. The structure of produced material presents iron matrix with 2% porosity and reinforced with cementite and phosphide inclusions with synthetic diamonds sizing 30-20 mcm distributed in matrix. Diamonds in pure state may be separated from matrix, for instance, by dissolving. Materials produced by the offered method may be applied in the capacity of structural and tool materials (for cutting and drawing tools) or abrasive materials, for instance, for working of glass and similar materials.
