FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention represents the use of bromfenac or its salt to improve the preservative effectiveness of the water-based liquid composition, comprising (a) bromfenac or its salt and (b) benzalkonium chloride, and c) at least one agent selected from the group consisting of nonionic surfactant and water-soluble polymer. The invention also relates to a method of improving the preservative effectiveness of the aqueous solution described above, which comprises adding of bromfenac or its salt in an amount of 0.1 w/v % to the solution.
EFFECT: invention enables to obtain a composition with imroved preservative activity, wherein there are low concentrations of benzalkonium chloride preserving agent.
