SUBSTANCE: X-ray examination of the colon in a latero position is performed, obtaining X-rays in the patient's position on the right and then on the left side. As guidelines for assessment of the splenic flexure and descending colon displacement, a line from the spinous process of the fourth lumbar vertebra to the middle of the descending colon lumen, the line from the anterior superior ostium of the ilium to the middle of the descending colon lumen, an approximate line from the spinous process of the eleventh thoracic vertebra to the front edge of the eleventh rib are used. The value of the difference in the length of each line is determined by turning the patient from the right to the left side, comparing the obtained value of each difference to the preset average statistical value characterizing normal displacement of the splenic flexure and the descending colon. The results of comparison are used to determine normal or abnormal displacement.

EFFECT: method provides a high efficiency of preoperative planning for laparoscopic left-sided hemicolectomy, taking into account the mobility of the left half of the large intestine and predicting difficulties in splenic flexure mobilization.
