SUBSTANCE: invention represents a method of assessing breeding pea material by the leaf photosynthesis rate, comprising measuring the absorption rate of carbon dioxide molecules per surface area unit of the leaves of the first fruiting node at the fruiting stage, wherein the measurement is carried out from 9:00 am to 11:00 am via a portable gas analyzer of the brand LI-6400 XT, which records and displays the photosynthesis rate value at the digital screen, wherein the measuring chamber is attached to the plant leaf, and the stabilization of gas exchange in the measuring chamber is waited for 1.5-2 minutes.

EFFECT: invention allows to reduce time costs and to improve the accuracy compared with known methods.
