FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: peripheral venous blood sampling and DNA extraction are performed. Prior to metformin appointment, the level of glycated hemoglobin and the level of C-peptide are determined, after which genetic typing of the single nucleotide polymorphism of the rs2070744 gene of endothelial nitric oxide synthase C786T is performed. When the CC or CT haplotype is isolated, efficiency of monotherapy with metformin 850 mg twice a day and a decrease in the glycated hemoglobin level and an increase in the C peptide level relative to the baseline levels for 3 months is predicted.

EFFECT: improved prediction accuracy.
