FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, and concerns a method for predicting the efficacy of monotherapy with oral antidiabetic drug metformin in patients with type 2 diabetes. Method consists in the fact that in patients with type 2 diabetes DNA is extracted from peripheral venous blood, followed by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and conducting analysis to detect polymorphism A>C rs 622342 of OST1 gene. When identifying genotype AA in the area rs 622342 of OST1 gene predict the effectiveness of monotherapy with metformin as antidiabetic drug in patients with type 2 diabetes, and when identifying genotype AC and CC in the area rs 622342 of OST1 gene predict the ineffectiveness of monotherapy with metformin as antidiabetic drug in this group of patients.

EFFECT: use of the method allows to increase the accuracy and specificity of predicting the effectiveness of monotherapy of oral antihyperglycemic drug metformin in patients with type 2 diabetes.
