SUBSTANCE: make-and-brake device for the drill rods includes the drill rods rotation drive, made in the form of the suspended tongs with the hydraulic motor, the drill rod gripper with the open span for the pump rod and the external protuberances at the drill rod gripper lower part, made for the corresponding grooves, provided on the rack, fixed to the wellhead equipment, rotary sleeve with the notch, installed on the drill rod gripper. There is the cam slot on the external surface of the drill rod gripper, consisting of one longitudinal groove and two transverse grooves made from the ends of the longitudinal groove and directed downward, the rotatable sleeve is equipped with the guide pin, inserted into the cam slot of the drill rod gripper with the possibility of axial and longitudinal movement of the rotary sleeve relative to the drill rod gripper within the cam slot. The length of the drill rod cam slot longitudinal groove corresponds to the rotary sleeve rotation angle by 180°. The drill rod gripper is equipped with the radial hole in which the rotary sleeve lock is mounted. From the one hand, the lock is spring-loaded in the radial hole of the drill rod gripper, and from the other hand, the lock is provided with the cone, cooperating with the inner surface of the rotary sleeve with the possibility of spring compression and lock movement in the radial hole of the drill rod gripper. When the lock cone leaves the contact with the rotary sleeve inner surface, there is the limited movement of the lock from the drill rod gripper hole and the rotary sleeve fixation at its upper end relative to the drill rod gripper. From the outside the rotary sleeve is equipped with the handle, and the drill rod gripper and the rack inside are equipped with centralizers. The external protuberances in the drill rod gripper lower part and the grooves on the rack are equipped with the cone surfaces mutually facing each other.

EFFECT: reduction of the work labour input while screwing and unscrewing the pump rods, as well as the likelihood of the workers injury, associated with the release of the pumping rod from the drill rod gripper during the round trip operations with the pumping rods.
