SUBSTANCE: side opening package comprises an inner box in the form of a substantially rectangular parallelepiped having an open end at the top, a valve member that covers the remainder while leaving the open end part as an opening for retrieving the retained object, and an outer cover that is rotatably connected to the inner box via a hinge, is formed along one side wall in the direction of inner box width, and has at least an upper surface wall part, that covers the opening for retrieving when the outer cover is closed. Wherein, the valve member is continuously connected to the front wall of inner box in the connecting zone at least partially in the direction of inner box width. Wherein, the predetermined region located near the hinge, including the end part on the hinge side in the upper surface wall part, has depth dimension smaller than depth dimension of predetermined region located remotely from the hinge which is located farther from the hinge than the region located near the hinge. Wherein, the region located near the hinge in the upper surface wall part is formed so that the depth dimension is reduced to the end part from the hinge side. Depth dimension in the end part from the hinge side of the upper surface wall part is almost equal to zero.
