FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: flame retardant material comprises a matrix formed by at least one organic polymer, a flame retardant additive selected from among metal hydroxides, and a binder forming an interface between the matrix and the flame retardant additive. The organic polymer in the matrix contains at least 50 wt % of one biopolymer. The binder is an ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer containing at least 40 wt % of vinyl acetate grafted with maleic anhydride.
EFFECT: resulting material is flexible and shockproof and can be processed by moulding or extrusion, in particular by injection moulding.
