FIELD: measuring equipment.

SUBSTANCE: ultrasonic vibrations are coupled into the material of one of the connected sheets and the signals reflected from the defects, the boundary surfaces "sheet-glue layer", and "adhesive layer-sheet" are detected using an ultrasonic flaw detector equipped with a direct combined piezoelectric wide-band transformer. The presence of defects in the adhesive layer is determined by the amplitude value of the ultrasonic signal reflected from the adhesive layer at the defect location area, relative to the position of the strobe on the flaw detector screen, which is set when the flaw detector is adjusted on a sample having artificial defects of the adhesive layer. The position and duration of the strobe are selected in such a way that the signal reflected from the adhesive layer appears within the range of this strobe, and the signal amplitude from the adhesive layer of the control object is set equal to the average signal amplitude from the adhesive layer of the sample in the defect-free zone.

EFFECT: increased reliability of control in terms of determining the boundaries and dimensions of defects in the adhesive layer, reduced probability of missing defects or oversampling the control object, the ability to control the connection of sheets made of polymeric composite materials with a small thickness of the adhesive layer.
