FIELD: electricity.
SUBSTANCE: inductive power transmission system comprises of a power transmission device (101) and a power reception device (105). The power transmission system supports two-way communication. The power reception device (105) first initiates the mandatory configuration phase by transmitting a part of signal intensity parameters, and the power transmission and reception device then controls (505, 507) the mandatory configuration phase, at which the first set of power transmission operating parameters for the power transmission device (101) and power reception device (105) are selected. The power reception device (105) then transmits (509) a request to proceed to the coordination phase, and the power (511) transmission device (101) confirms the reception of the request by transmitting the acknowledgment. Then it goes to the coordination phase. The power reception device (105) proceeds to the coordination phase in response to receiving the acknowledgment message. The power reception device (105) and the power transmission device (101) then determine (513, 515) the second set of operating parameters by executing the coordination phase. The approach is, in particular, suitable for the Qi-power transmission system.
EFFECT: improved performance and improved backward compatibility for wireless power transmission.
