SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of motor vehicles and in particular to vehicle engine identification systems and the anti-corrosion protection of the identification number engraved on the vehicle engine. The method of marking the engine of a motor vehicle comprises the step of engraving the engine identification number on the marking surface on the engine wall. After the engraving step, the method comprises the step of protecting the identification number by tightly securing the security means comprising a transparent plate having corrosion resistance on the marking surface.
EFFECT: increasing the reliability, simplicity and environmental compatibility in the case of corrosion protection of the identification number printed on the engine wall by engraving.
