FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: packed antimicrobial suture thread includes an outer packaging and an inner packaging with an antimicrobial agent source containing a plurality of tabs, each containing a pair of antimicrobial material reservoirs. At least one suture thread with one or more surfaces is placed in the inner packaging. At least one suture thread, inner packaging and inner surface of the outer packaging are subjected to temperature and pressure conditions for a time period sufficient to transfer an effective amount of the antimicrobial agent from the antimicrobial agent source to the suture thread and to the inner package.
EFFECT: formation of bacterial colonies on at least one suture thread and inner packaging is essentially inhibited.
