FIELD: machine engineering.

SUBSTANCE: mandrel comprises a central shaft with big and small flanges mounted on it, whereon segmented elements interlocked with obliquely arranged lateral faces are mounted, fixed at the ends with centering and forming the working surface of the mandrel by external profiled surfaces. The segmented elements are made of a multilayer composite material including layers of lightweight aggregate and metal inserts, are fixed through the metal inserts on a frame mounted between the flanges of the mandrel. The lateral faces of the segmented elements are reinforced with a metal profile, and end locks are fixed at their ends.

EFFECT: simplified design, reduced weight, reduced labour intensity of mandrel assembly-disassembly.
