FIELD: agriculture.

SUBSTANCE: removable markers are installed on animal's points. The distance to the marker is measured with a laser range finder and a laser pointer. The point width is determined by simultaneously measuring the distances to the markers installed on each side of the animal's point with two opposite range finders, taking into account the distance between the range finders. The measurements are simultaneously transmitted to a computer to form the results. The device comprises a machine for fixing animals and a measuring tool made in the form of two oppositely located laser range finders with laser pointers mounted thereon. Each laser range finder is fixed on a first slider, which is moved along its vertical guide. The upper end of the vertical guide is fixed to a second slide, which moves along its horizontal guide. Each horizontal guide is rigidly fixed on its two vertical racks arranged on the outside and on the side of the machine for animal fixing.
