FIELD: metallurgy.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a process for the production of lead tungstate (PbWO4) in ionic melts and can be used in the manufacture of scintillation elements used in detectors of high-energy ionizing radiation operating under conditions of high dose loads in registration paths requiring high temporal resolution. The initial components, taken in equivalent amounts, are mixed and thoroughly grinded in mortar, loaded into platinum capsule and lowered into shaft furnace, the temperature in which is raised gradually to 550-600°C, and is held for 1 hour. Melt is poured onto steel substrate, after cooling is thoroughly grinded in mortar, and PbWO4 is washed from slag (sulphates) in hot water for 20 minutes, then filtered by washing with water. The resulting powder PbWO4 is dried at 300°C, and then calcined at 500°C.

EFFECT: obtaining clean lead tungstate, reducing time of synthesis process and energy consumption.
