FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: method for express screening of potential antioxidants includes isolation of low density lipoproteins (LDL) from the venous blood plasma of healthy donors, low-density lipoproteins oxidisation at a temperature of 37°C by introduction of 30 mm of copper sulphate (CuSO4), after which, at fixed intervals, lipohydroperoxides (conjugated dienes) accumulation at 233 nm (ΔD233) is measured, and based on the study results, a kinetic curve of LDL oxidation is constructed, from which the duration of the induction period (τ) is determined, then the studied antioxidants (final concentration of 1 mcM) dissolved in either 96% ethanol for fat-soluble substances or in an incubation medium for water-soluble substances are introduced into the test samples, and if the duration of the induction period of the test substance is above 0.4 - the substance can be considered as an effective antioxidant; if it is below 0.1 - the studied substance is not an effective antioxidant.

EFFECT: ability to perform effective screening of antioxidants.
