SUBSTANCE: method includes obtaining a result of the first measurement determining the passage time of the first reflected electromagnetic signal from the measuring unit to the reference reflector and back to the measuring unit; determining the measurement result for verification of the measuring unit by the response signal generated by the calibration device; obtaining a result of the second measurement determining the time for the second reflected electromagnetic signal to travel from the measuring unit to the reference reflector and back to the measuring unit and determining the result of verification based on the results of the first measurement, the second measurement, and the measurement for checking the measuring unit. The embodiments of the invention also provide verification that after the measurement unit is reconnected to the device distributing the electromagnetic signal, this unit and the level measurement system as a whole function properly.
