FIELD: measuring equipment.

SUBSTANCE: method of determining the speed of the athlete's movement is that a multi-dimensional accelerometer is placed on the extremity of the athlete, to which the local coordinate system is tied. Based on acceleration data obtained with the accelerometer, at least, one correcting speed value is used to compensate for the rotation of the local coordinate system arising from the movement of the athlete relative to the fixed global coordinate system. Further, the acceleration data are integrated and the speed of the athlete is determined. The obtained speed value is corrected by means of the indicated correction speed value. The device of determining the speed of the athlete's movement comprises a multidimensional accelerometer disposed on an athlete's limbs, a processor configured to determine, at least, one correction speed value based on the acceleration data acquired by the multidimensional accelerometer and a processor configured to determine the rate by integration multidimensional data on acceleration and correction of the obtained value by means of a correcting speed value.
