FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: isolator includes, arranged in series on an optical axis, a polariser, a magnetooptical element mounted in a magnetic system consisting of permanent magnets, and an analyser, where in the magnetic system of the isolator, regions most susceptible to magnetisation reversal are filled with a non-ferromagnetic medium. The technical result is preventing magnets from falling into the region of strong demagnetising fields and preventing the emergence of magnetically reversed regions when assembling the magnetic system, which increases the strength of the magnetic field generated therein, and enables use of a shorter magnetooptical element, thereby increasing the maximum allowable operating power.

EFFECT: easy to use compact Faraday isolator operating at room temperature with one magnetooptical element for lasers with power in the range of 650 W.
