SUBSTANCE: vibration sensor (5) includes a vibrating element (104), a receiver circuit (134) which receives a vibrational signal from the vibrating element (104), and an excitation circuit (138) which generates an excitation signal. The excitation circuit (138) includes excitation (143) over a closed cycle and excitation (147) over an opened cycle. The measuring electronics (20) induce vibration of the vibrating element (104) starting from the predetermined first frequency and over the opened cycle to reach the first target phase difference P1 for the fluid medium which characteristics are obtained and determine the corresponding first frequency point ω1, induce vibration of the vibrating element (104) starting from the predetermined second frequency and over the opened cycle to reach the second target phase difference P2, and determine the corresponding second frequency point ω2, and determine the viscosity of the fluid medium which characteristics are obtained using the first frequency point ω1 and the second frequency point ω2.
EFFECT: enabling the measurement of a rapid change in the viscosity of fluid medium which characteristics are obtained.
