This current envelope serves as a sign of a number of spectral energy values for a corresponding series of frequency resolution elements. In addition, the encoder comprises an envelope interpolation module configured to determine a number of interpolated envelopes based on a series of successive blocks of transform coefficients, respectively, based on the current envelope.

EFFECT: improving the quality of encoding by providing a smooth transition between time-domain coding and frequency-domain coding.
